Overview

Meditation and sleep have become essential in everyone's life to maintain good health, given the amount of stress people face on a daily basis in their professional and personal lives. I discovered from news and articles that during the pandemic, everyone realized the importance of mental health, and that today, more and more people are aware of it and taking efforts to improve their mental health. I'd like to build a specific platform for people who want to make the transition to meditation.

Problem Statement

A young student and professional who wants to maintain their mental health needs to be able to easily discover meditation sessions, some relaxing music, and how to order their thoughts Because it feels like reflecting your thoughts during meditation is difficult.

1. Empathize - know about users
User Research

Preliminary research was the first step in my research. I interviewed people for a short period of time. That was an opportunity to collect some qualitative data, and I also conducted a survey using a Google Form to obtain quantitative data in order to identify a problem.

3. Ideate: Brainstorming ideas
Low-fidelity wireframes

I create some initial wireframes on paper and then update them with new features and modifications as needed.

Medium-fidelity wireframes

Based on what I learned from the low-fidelity, I updated the medium fidelity. In addition, I increased the number of screens available.

4. Prototype

It was the last phase in my design process, and I built a working prototype for this app. You can see it here.

Branding
Logo

I began with creating a logo and eventually came up with the logo that is displayed in the left upper corner. With the help of some hand-drawn shapes, I tried to portray one meditation posture in my logo. I wanted to make my logo as basic and clear as possible, therefore I avoided using any images or filled shapes, instead focusing on the shape's border and tried to keep it abstract. The reason I choose an abstract logo is that it will express brand values or anything else about this application that I want to stand out.

Color Palette

When it comes to color, I went with a purple variation since I studied color psychology and found that colors may have a significant influence on our moods and behavior. Purple is most recognized for its spirituality and imagination. It combines the energy and strength of red with the stability and dependability of blue, creating the ideal physical-spiritual balance. Purple is the most peaceful hue, and it has a calming impact on the mind and body. Which is perfect for doing meditation and mindful practice. This is the primary reason behind my color choice. I kept one version as my primary color and modified the 'HSL' value to make the secondary color. Moreover, I tried to prevent using pure black in my design because it diverts attention from the user's visual focus. So I created a black shade and a few additional shades from my primary hue that would be beneficial in my final design.
